Im er, back again!

Cant say I got lazy with posting here, but lets say I took some time off domaining again.

With uncertainties being hurled around everywhere, I thought it would be best to concentrate on the basic revenue source. Well, the domain marketplace has certainly diminished in numbers, more quality than quantity now. Actually, you could say its better quality thats selling, the lesser but still good domains are having problems with mobility and liquidity. Only time will tell how all this will churn out to be.

How uncertain the market is shows with small utility sites being developed by domainers. From zone file readers to domain aggregators, anything and everything seems to be developed. In a way its all good, the domaining industry needed some time to reflect upon itself and build on their tools and resources to take it to the next level. You can finally see some competition in the  "utility & resources" market. As far as buying and selling domains goes, refining and sorting your portfolio is the way to go. I have let go a lot of domains, but I did renew some for multiple years as  they were highly speculative for me, and I did not want to let them go next year. I wish to give them a chance, and would simply give them the breathing time & space to raise in value.

Meanwhile, I will continue with the development and optimization work. See you until my next post dudes.

I’m back.

Firstly, a Happy New Year to you all!

I’ve been missing from the domaining scene since September 2008, and its time I got back. Thank you all for sending in your mails asking me whether I was dead or what (heh!). Well i’ve just relocated to another place and needed some time to settle in. Will be posting more often now.

So, see you all here and at the forums =)

Disclosable.com Launched

Disclosable.com, a new Website dedicated to providing you with top quality domain names, is now launched. Although the list scanner and local application filters arent a 100% working, we will post articles related to domain scanning and drop catching. Disclosable has today released a small list of available domains using DRT. The intention behind the site is to show readers how easy it is to scan lists, register domains and sell for atleast 100 ROI. Regular scanning and flipping would put you in a comfort zone with a decent profit and high sustenance.

Disclosable.com is a small but worthy effort to share knowledge and lists amongst peers.

Available Names

I have been missing from the blogging action for sometime. Although I haven’t been posting, a lot has happened. The best news is that I’m soon going to be launching another domaining site, featuring best dropped and available names, free of cost. While rummaging through huge lists for Dictionary, Geo, Geo Generic, and Two worders, I often come across some that I let go. Well now that I have taken up development full time, I would be leaving a lot more. Why waste the good names, so I am putting up a site giving you the best of the lot that gets dropped and is available.

I have also been playing around with a drop catching script which can be run locally on a machine. This script currently only works with Dynadot, but I would be extending it for various registrars. The script would also be available for anyone who wishes to try it out.

Will keep you updated on the progress, the site should be up and about in another 5 days or so. I also promise to update my blog regularly from now on :D

Letting go of some Reem Names @ NamePros.

Like I mentioned elsewhere on the blog, I have decided to let go a part of my Reem Island Portfolio. I thought about keeping them for another year, but I already have too many of new project geo’s. Its better to make the portfolio lean. Anyone interested to go after them can get them here:

BIDO Auctions “on hold” for now

With the very eagerly awaited auction of FixedLoans.com came problems for BIDO. Yesterday, BIDO auction for FixedLoans saw so much response that it overloaded the servers and they crashed before the auction could complete. Today, there was a re-auction and this time too the same thing happened.

One of the things I previously noticed was that BIDO sends out a mail to ALL the bidders each time a bid is placed. Generally, an auction only sends a mail upon being outbid. Perhaps this could have choked the bandwith looking at the fact that I have till now received 240 mails from them. Multiply that by lets say 100 bidders, makes it 24000 mails in a span of less than an hour. There could be other problems including the new installation of a chat server as mentioned by Sahar.  Although this problem seems troubling, im sure the technical staff would be working on it 24/7, and it would be a matter of time before the site is up and about.

First Win @ BIDO – ReliableBilling comes home ! :)

Today I received my first ever domain from BIDO, ReliableBilling.com. Being a software developer for the better part of my career, this domain simply spells development for me.

The price was as cheap as could be, and the registration dates back to 2001, which is really cool. Most of my sites are static ones providing info or portfoilio’s. I think Reliable Billing would be great for a "Free Online Invoicing System", providing billing capabilities for small and medium sized companies over the net. This would mean minimal hardware requirements and advanced networking capabilities.

Really excited about the prospect, thought I’d share it here :)

GeoGeneric Domaining – Gen Next

Very recently I joined a geo domainers group and quickly found out that this niche is  hot and burning!

Firstly lets understand what "Pure" Geo Domains & Geo Generic Domains are. Geo Domains are domains purely having the names of Cities / Countries / States / Islands – any geographical site where communities exist and business can be conducted. Examples are Ireland.com / Denver.com / Texas.com etc

Geo Generic Domains on the other hand are generally two-three worders where the First Word is the Geo Name and the remaining words constitute Business / Keyword. Something like DenverStore.com / IndiaCricket.com / AustralianBeer.com / AucklandFinance.com etc.

DebtSpecialist.com at BIDO Today

Bido has been holding daily auctions with the first of its kind “one domain a day” auction, as we all would already know. While their domains have had mixed reactions and sometimes really low winning bids, the one being sold today seems to be a gem.

The name is DebtSpecialist.com

Perfect keywords, rare “debt” domain, and a great niche, I really love the the name (although the plural sounds a tad more corporate). With the world markets in a very volatile state, debt consolidation is huge. This domain would serve well an end user looking to provide their technical expertise and consultation services.

I would be bidding on it, lets see what the final bid it raises. I think it should reach ~4-5K mark easy.

Cuil? Nah Not So Cool Yet.

YOUR SEARCH ARE BELONGS TO ME (muahahaha)

Before i start my rant on the upcoming Search Engine by ex-employees of Google, I would seriously like to know what made these obvious “experts” to come up with such a forgettable name? I read somewhere its supposed to be pronounced “cool”? lol. I would think this name is one typo-squatters paradise. Couldn’t they have gotten a one word generic, or maybe a more pronounceable CVCV.com?
