BIDO Auctions “on hold” for now

With the very eagerly awaited auction of FixedLoans.com came problems for BIDO. Yesterday, BIDO auction for FixedLoans saw so much response that it overloaded the servers and they crashed before the auction could complete. Today, there was a re-auction and this time too the same thing happened.

One of the things I previously noticed was that BIDO sends out a mail to ALL the bidders each time a bid is placed. Generally, an auction only sends a mail upon being outbid. Perhaps this could have choked the bandwith looking at the fact that I have till now received 240 mails from them. Multiply that by lets say 100 bidders, makes it 24000 mails in a span of less than an hour. There could be other problems including the new installation of a chat server as mentioned by Sahar.  Although this problem seems troubling, im sure the technical staff would be working on it 24/7, and it would be a matter of time before the site is up and about.

Sahar has just announced that BIDO would put their auction on hold indefinitely until the problem was fully analyzed and fixed. It definitely comes as a shock for most, as BIDO is indeed an amazing platform to showcase and sell domains. I wish them all the best and look forward to a quick return.

 From Sahar’s blog:

Bido Auctions No More (For Now)

We gave it another shot today but still had major tech issues. We believe the right thing to do now is to spend time figuring out the issues and come back when we are ready. It may be few days, weeks, months, none of us really knows.

All who submitted domains to Bido we will work with you to get it back to your accounts.

Other Bido services, DNZoom and Portfolio Help, will continue to run normally once we get servers back online.

I will update on this more later.

Looking forward to more transactions at BIDO!
