Cloud! Really?

With all the cloud registrations happening across the board, I thought its time to write a bit about what I think.

Today I scanned 2000 cloud<word> and <word>cloud.com names. I found that out of the 2000, 1452 were registered. These were just random words, All Taken!

I know things are moving top speed in the Cloud world, but random cloud names are just another response to the anticipated growth in the niche.

Some time ago, I registered some MT9 Domains (as some of you would remember the hype about a new music format called mt9 which would purportedly replace mp3 *rolls his eyes*). Never happened, I wasted twice the registration costs and then gave up.

Was it worth it? Well, I would say yes. It was worth a try. The names were very relevant to the niche, and had mt9 progressed as promised, the domains would of paid off many times the investment. But the point to notice here is, they wer RELEVANT names mt9albums, mt9world, mt9players etc? Not mt9jumping, mt9callme, mt9haha :]

Anyways, to sum it up, to all the new domainers around, I would say, speculate early and keep your domains relevant. I have been working on getting some domains to a trend which is under development and may pickup by the end of 2012. I have been collecting good names in the niche, and because I did my research and have started early, I can say some names could be category killers if the trend picks up. If not, hey its speculation right? But in the Right Direction and Timely.

Laters people!
