YOUR SEARCH ARE BELONGS TO ME (muahahaha)
Before i start my rant on the upcoming Search Engine by ex-employees of Google, I would seriously like to know what made these obvious “experts” to come up with such a forgettable name? I read somewhere its supposed to be pronounced “cool”? lol. I would think this name is one typo-squatters paradise. Couldn’t they have gotten a one word generic, or maybe a more pronounceable CVCV.com?
They have tried to come up with a different look, which I dont hate all that much. The thing which is bugging me no end is the really really slow speed. Most of the pages didn’t open too quickly for me, and the results were disappointing. The results page is divided into 3 columns. I think the middle column seemed to ignore the search words :D. Also, though this format is innovative, I would like to see more in terms of incorporating Images and Ads on there. And where in the god’s name is the help section?
I know it is just the start, but when competing against Google, they cant start off with a poorly implemented system & interface. It might be too late too soon.
With $33 million as venture capital, I would think they would like to have a good first impression amongst the users; specially when they are hoping to compete against the obvious Giant of the search engine industry. Having demolished gzillions of challengers, I think Google wont need to worry much just yet.
The point to be noted is the developers working on this new engine. One of them has been one of the main “Inventors” for Google; which is saying a lot. Personally, I think its always good to have competition. Makes the quality of services better for the consumer. Cuil has some nice technical specs and promising developers. A good technological battle between these very obvious David and Goliath contenders would be interested to follow.
Here’s are a couple links for the read on the story:

I will come up with a full review for Cuil soon.
