BIDO Auctions “on hold” for now

With the very eagerly awaited auction of FixedLoans.com came problems for BIDO. Yesterday, BIDO auction for FixedLoans saw so much response that it overloaded the servers and they crashed before the auction could complete. Today, there was a re-auction and this time too the same thing happened.

One of the things I previously noticed was that BIDO sends out a mail to ALL the bidders each time a bid is placed. Generally, an auction only sends a mail upon being outbid. Perhaps this could have choked the bandwith looking at the fact that I have till now received 240 mails from them. Multiply that by lets say 100 bidders, makes it 24000 mails in a span of less than an hour. There could be other problems including the new installation of a chat server as mentioned by Sahar.  Although this problem seems troubling, im sure the technical staff would be working on it 24/7, and it would be a matter of time before the site is up and about.

DebtSpecialist.com at BIDO Today

Bido has been holding daily auctions with the first of its kind “one domain a day” auction, as we all would already know. While their domains have had mixed reactions and sometimes really low winning bids, the one being sold today seems to be a gem.

The name is DebtSpecialist.com

Perfect keywords, rare “debt” domain, and a great niche, I really love the the name (although the plural sounds a tad more corporate). With the world markets in a very volatile state, debt consolidation is huge. This domain would serve well an end user looking to provide their technical expertise and consultation services.

I would be bidding on it, lets see what the final bid it raises. I think it should reach ~4-5K mark easy.

DNForum All Set to hold an Online Auction

[REVIEW ADDED]

DNForum is holding their first Online Auction in another 12 hours. Some nice names have been put up for sale including ABBC.com, Image-Gallery.com, NHQ.net, HostingScript.com, DNGuide.com, CrunkFest.com and a host of others. The hosts of the auction recently stated that their focus would be on getting better names and prices than playing with numbers. Looking at the list, I think they wouldn’t be dissapointed. What reserves have been put up, and whether the bidders meet them, remains to be seen.
